For the people that know me, know that Joe Budden has been my favorite rapper since like like 02 so when I got the invite to check out the album there was no hesitation. The session was held at Chung King Studios in NY. I got there a bit late but was on time for the 2nd session.
I haven’t really felt all of Joe’s music lately. A Loose Quarter was decent to me and most of his recent solo projects have been ok. I’m really feeling this album though, out of all the tracks that I have heard there is not one is wack to me.
This album has a good mix of different emotion in it. Most of Joe Budden’s projects are more for thinkers, not really upbeat music so it would be hard to get someone with a short attention to listen to his music but on this album I think he made a change. He didn’t sellout or go pop or none of that crazy stuff but he gives the core fans what they are used to and something that clubs can bump, I like the beats selection a lot on this album.
Joe has his deep songs as usual like ‘All In My Head’, ‘Skeletons’ & ‘Castles’. He also has some bangers that you can ride to like ‘NBA’ featuring Wiz & French Montana and ‘Last Day’ which features Lloyd Banks and Juicy J. This track (Last Day) was supposed to feature Tech N9ne but he didn’t make the cut because of personal reasons as Joe explains around the 6:34 mark.
Overall, from the first listen I really like album and think it will appeal to the core Joe Budden fans and new Love & Hip Hop Joe Budden fans. If you didn’t get a chance to check out the snippets for the album you can do that here. Check out the video and make sure you pick up a copy of Joe Budden’s No Love Lost album which drops February 5th. You can preorder it here.
