From the first time I heard Drake, when my man Quan put me on, I knew he could spit but his flow and some of his lyrical content just sounded too familiar to me. Now I know some people might say I’m hating because I’m not one of the biggest Weezy fans, but ever since that issue he had with Gillie da Kid (with Gillie saying he wrote “The Carter” for Lil Wayne) I’ve been skeptical of Weezy’s abilities. Now after Drake came out I started feeling funny again. I’m thinking Wayne heard Drake while he was killing it over in Canada, paid him off to be quiet while Wayne had his shine and promised to bring him out after he was established completely and gained the momentum.
Since Drake is a cool laid back dude everyting went well, but with Gillie, I’m thinking Gillie couldn’t take Lil Wayne screaming he was the best knowing that he wrote for Lil Wayne so they had a falling out and he had to expose him. With Drake, I think he did it right this time around and Drake is getting his respect so it will never have to get to that point. Either that, or Lil Wayne is writing for Drake, or maybe one of them copied the others flow because it just sounds too similar. I don’t know if I’m bugging but I just feel this way.
